Car rental for SEA Games 2015

Car rental for SEA Games 2015

With the whole of Singapore gearing up for major celebrations (SEA Games 2015 & SG50) this month, the fluidity of the roads in Singapore would surely be affected. What do we mean? Well, public transportation will be packed to the brim, and large hordes of people will be lining the streets trying to hail a cab/taxi.

Drive.SG has a simple solution for you - rent a car or hire a chauffeur!

If you...

Can drive and have a working knowledge of the roads of Singapore (maybe not as familiar as a taxi driver, but still passable).

Renting a car would be the next best solution to your transportation problems. Think about it...

Our public buses & MRTs are going to be packed with people venturing out to catch the SEA Games in action. Those unable to get onto public transport will likely be lining the streets hailing cabs/taxis. Taxi apps will see a huge increase in network traffic. Likelihood of you getting a cab in this mess? Slim.

Moreover, do you REALLY want to grab a taxi during peak periods with additional surcharges looming over you? We wouldn't.

Rent a car instead!

YOU do not have to rely on someone else to get around Singapore. YOU can be in charge of your own schedule!

Renting a car gives you much more flexibility and control over your schedule.

Planning to catch a few SEA Games matches in a day, but realise it's happening all over Singapore? Do that easily with a rental car! All you need to worry about is getting to your destination. Let Drive.SG provide you with the wheels to drive around Singapore.

If you...

Are unfamiliar with Singapore's roads and modes of transportation.

While Singapore's public transport is quite top-notch, you still need time to get used to our system (as a tourist, you might not have the luxury of time).

Save yourself the hassle - hire a chauffeur! Let our experienced chauffeurs worry about getting you to your destination.

If English is not your native tongue, let us find you a chauffeur who speaks your language. He can be your guide around Singapore as well.

All you have to do is - sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

For this upcoming June celebrations, rent a car or hire a chauffeur with Drive.SG. We provide you with the means to find the best car rental deals in Singapore, and compare the prices all in one place!

Answers to our most frequently asked questions

To help improve your experience on our site,  we have mined all your most pressing questions and answered them. Read this entry before proceeding to do your booking for ease of use on the site.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We are located in Ubi, but collection of the car occurs at the place you rented the car from. i.e. If you rented a Toyota Vios from Urban Motors, collection will be at Commonwealth.

To check the location of the car, look at the last box on the bottom right of your screen.

Similarly, when you want to book by car model, we provide a dropdown list of all the companies with that particular model. You may choose to book your car according to location just by selecting the one that is nearest to you.

To make things easier, here is a breakdown of all the locations our partners are situated.

Q: I'm a probation driver, 18 years old. Can I rent with you?

A: Yes you may! We have 2 partners who rent to probation drivers. However, do note that each partner has their own terms & conditions. Remember to read the 'Important information', 'Mandatory charges', and 'Add-ons' tabs.

Q: Can I rent on a weekend?

A: Although most companies do not open on weekends (Saturday & Sunday), we have a select few partners who are either open for half a day on Saturday, or are open throughout the weekend.

Saturday-Half day

Weekend Rental

Q: Can I change the stipulated collection time?

A: It is not advisable to change the timing as it has already been set, but yes, we can help you change your collection time earlier or later as long as it is within the company's operating hours. However, do note that if you request for the change at the last minute, we might not be able to make the requested changes in time.

Remember to take note of the collection times in the 'Booking & Confirmation' page!

Q: Can I enter Malaysia with the car?

A: For entry into Malaysia, remember to check out the 'Add-Ons' tab in the booking page.

This window would state how far in Malaysia you are allowed to go. Furthermore, additional charges are applied per day. Select the amount of days you will be in Malaysia, and the charges will be added to your total sum accordingly.

Please be advised that the 'Entry into Malaysia' charge is an additional surcharge added to your rental fee. You need to select the add-on for the charges to be applied. It is not automatically included in the rental fee.

We hope you have found this guide useful. For additional enquiries, you may still contact us via the appropriate channels. Also, did you know we have a dedicated online chat system? Our ever-friendly Carson would be more than happy to assist you through the entire booking process.

Seven Romantic ideas with a car for your date

Seven Romantic ideas with a car for your date

Lacking of ideas to do for your upcoming date? Want to bring your date to places that are not easily accessible by public transport? Fret not! We have come up with a list of five romantic ideas that you can do with a car for your date! Without further ado, let us begin with the first date!

1.   Sentosa

Located in the Southern Part of the main island of Singapore, Sentosa is home to a wide range of attractions and facilities that would keep you constantly entertained. If you are looking for a whole day date, one can fancy a tour around Universal Studios Singapore, where a day pass would provide you with a whole day of fun. Moreover, ample parking is found just right beneath the theme park. Otherwise, one can choose to take an adventurous route by trying the largest indoor skydiving experience at the iFly Singapore attraction which is certain to provide optimal excitement to a boring date. Afterwards, you can disembark to enjoy a romantic experience on the Sentosa luge for an exhilarating ride down the Sentosa luge ride. After the theme park or the tour around Sentosa, one can fancy having a delicate seafood feast at COCA restaurant or choosing from the wide range of restaurants spanning different cuisines at the basement. To end off the day, one simply stroll and chill along the beaches of Sentosa, as you reminisce about the awesome date that you both just had, sparking hopes for a romantic ending to a wonderful date.

2.    Dempsey Hill

Suit up! One of the most fabled cluster of fine dining restaurants and exquisite merchandise, this would be an excellent date for anyone looking to impress with good food and more importantly, good company. As the hill is located up a steep slope (yes, there are hills in Singapore) and you would not want your date to be sweating profusely while attempting to scale a hill on her 6 inch heels, a car would inevitably allow you to take your date up to Dempsey Hill with ease. Choosing from the large array of restaurants, one can take their cherry’s pick from Italian cuisine, Korean cuisine, Japanese cuisine, etc. Following a superb dinner and dessert, you can bring your date to delve into the world of retail therapy provided by the upscale retail shops in the vicinity, selling pristine stuff ranging from Persian carpets to Antiques and veritable teak furniture. Ending off the night, one can choose to bring a closure to a well-planned date by treating your date to a relaxing nails spa that is guaranteed to give your date an unforgettable experience.

3. Marina Bay Sands Staycation

Bring your game face on! The Marina area is home to a great amount of cityscape, and is the preferred dwelling of the Marina Barrage. You can start the day off by parking your car at the Marina Barrage, Singapore’s own freshwater dam stretching across the Marina Channel, provides a lush greenery and a great place for the relaxing date on the weekends. Ranging from kite-flying to just having a simple picnic at the Marina Barrage, the spot is also famous for graduation photo-shoots famed for its cityscape pictures taken from the outlook. After having a great morning out in the sun, you can bring your date to check in at the famed Marina Bay Sands Hotel, where the infinity pool provides an immersive experience for those who want to swim on the top deck of Singapore’s flagship monument. After a refreshing swim, you and your date can wash up and have dinner at the many restaurants in Marina Bay Shoppes. Treat your date to luxury brands such as LV, Gucci, and The Hour Glass whilst ending off the night with tea at TWG’s flagship tea pantry. Finally, if your date is a party animal (lol), you can bring her to Pangaea, Singapore’s ultra-lounge club which is set to provide a smashing good time to hits tuned by world class DJs coupled with premium whisky and liquor.

4.    Zoo + River Safari and Night Safari

Want to get in touch with your WILD side? Take a day trip to the Singapore Zoo, which is home to many exotic animals such the White Tiger and the giant Hippopotamus. Alternatively, you can also watch the Animal show starring the Elephants of Asia and the brand new Animal Friends show showcasing domestic animals. Consequentially, if you are feeling adventurous, you can pop over to the newly opened River Safari, where the famous Jia Jia and Kai Kai Panda Bears are on display and a plethora of animals that dwell in the Rivers of the World are also on display as well. Shop around the souvenir shops in both scenic attractions and you may be able to purchase cheap and nice souvenirs as a nice memento for the date. If you are interested to further explore the animal kingdom in the night, you are welcome to bask in the moonlight on the tram showcasing the jaguars and cheetahs of the animal kingdom. Finally, you can end the date on a sweet note by bringing her to Bukit Timah’s Daily Scoop for some refreshing ice cream to cool off the night.

5. Mount Faber + Jewel Box

Feel like you can scale the highest mountains in Singapore? Want to take a scenic route of the city’s buildings from above? Wait no more! Begin your day by parking your vehicle at the Mount Faber Car Park. Proceed to take a relaxing walk along Mount Faber, surrounded by the flora and fauna, as you try to spark up refreshing conversations about your date. Consequentially, take a trip up to the peak of Mount Faber, and take a photo with the beautiful skyline of Singapore as your background. Spend your afternoon in style as you move downhill to take the Jewel Box, Mount Faber’s premier cable car experience. You can book in advance to get a full three course meal followed by a one hour cable car ride on the spacious cabin moving around Mount Faber. Alternatively, you can bring your date for some nice hawker fare at Seah Im Food Centre, which is home to famous local dishes such as Lor Mee and Fish Soup.  After your delectable meal, take the car downhill of Mount Faber and move to Vivo City, where you can enjoy a wide range of retail therapy and desserts. Shower her with a night walk on top of Vivo City and play around with the sprinklers or the arcade to give her the date that she will remember forever!

6. Botanic Gardens

Start your date on a high and romantic note by bringing her to Singapore’s oldest garden, the Botanic gardens. With a rich history of over 180 years (The garden was establish in 1822.), the Botanic gardens is home to some of the most exotic flowers in Asia, and is home to Vanda Miss Joaquim, the Singapore National Flower. Play around with the dogs of the many residents who live around the gardens, and enjoy many wedding shoots by the lovebirds who have just gotten married. Treat yourself to a fantastic brunch at Food for Thought, where you can choose from delicious breakfast items such as the Full Breakfast to fuel up for the afternoon. In the afternoon, drive yourself to Orchard Road, where you can walk along the streets of Orchard Road and indulge in the shopping paradise in the city’s famous shopping street. At night, be sure to make your way down towards the Grand Cathay, which hosts the city’s largest cinemas. Catch the latest blockbusters in 4K Digital, as you immerse yourself in a truly implosive experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression on your date.

7.    East Coast Park (Night Cycling)

Looking to get your Cycle on? Take your car to one of Singapore’s favourite night spot for dating couples, as you can choose to rent a bicycle at the many bicycle kiosks situated along the path and take a scenic ride along the park’s connectors. Take a break at the stretch’s famous scenic spots to take a photo with the sea as your backdrop. Following that, you can go to have dinner at the East Coast Park food centre, which is famed for its seafood and hawker fare. There, you would be able to find a wide array of local favourites, ranging from Satay Bee Hoon to Cockles and Sambal Stingray. After a satisfying dinner, take a pleasant stroll down the Park where you would be able to try out activities such as rollerblading or simply relaxing with the sea wind. Bring yourself a tent and hammock if you are feeling ready to spend the night with your date at one of the most serene and peaceful places in Singapore.
